The Coastal Bend of Texas mostly is known for its acres of shallow bays, all of
them isolated from the Gulf of Mexico by a series of narrow barrier islands. The
region supports four separate bay systems: The San Antonio Bay system, the Aransas
Bay system, the Corpus Christi Bay system and the Upper Laguna Madre. Each has unique
qualities, but all of these bays are prolific fisheries.
The most popular sport fishes
include speckled trout, Redfish, black drum, flounder and sheepshead. Secondary species
include gaff top catfish, croaker, whiting, pompano and a list of other non-game
species available to anglers who use artificial and natural baits. Corpus Christi's
many top-notch fishing guides can help you find and identify any type of catch you're
looking for.
